Led by Samuel Sherwood, Alan Lance, Attorney General of Idaho, says that he doesn't see any evidence of the state's largest militia violating any anti-paramilitary law. "We are not in that business of violating constitutional rights," says Alan Lance.

Sam Sherwood claims that the USMA is not armed, does not perform drills, and does not go up into the hills in camouflage uniforms.

However, Sherwood has been quoted as saying a civil war may be on the horizon. "Go up and look your legislator in the face," Sherwood allegedly said, "because someday you may be forced to blow it off." Sherwood claims that he was misquoted.
